Animal Control General Definition of Work Under general supervision, the Animal Shelter Worker will provide daily feeding, cleaning and overall care of shelter animals as well as maintain shelter appearance and presentation.
This position will provide support to the staff as needed.
The Animal Shelter Worker should maintain a welcoming, friendly and professional presence to all community members visiting the shelter.
Work is performed under the direction of the Animal Control Supervisor.
Essential Functions Perform routing housekeeping duties necessary for optimal cleanliness and sanitation of all animal kennels and other routing assignments to maintain the shelter appearance and presentation.
Ensure that all animals are fed, watered, bathed, and exercised in the manner necessary to maintain optimal comfort and health.
Monitor all animals for signs of illness and/or behavioral issues and report any observations to appropriate staff.
Support with adoption process as needed.
Maintain routine daily records, as required.
Restock supplies and report low inventory to appropriate staff.
Assist Animal Control Officers in calls with picking up animals, as needed.
Retrieve animals at local Veterinary Offices and Harrisonville Police Departments, as needed.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED 1-2 years of experience in Shelter preferred but not required.
Valid state driver's license.
Must pass background check, physical testing, and drug screen prior to employment.
Special Qualifications Must meet and maintain all training and education requirements for position.
Random Drug Testing as required.
